Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
7th Grade Advanced Math
The 7th grade advanced math class dives deeper into the 7th grade math standards than the regular 7th grade math course. Many of the standards cover topics not previously taught last year, so students will find the 7th grade advanced course to be more rigorous than any other class they have had in the past. They are strongly encouraged to spend time outside of class reviewing material covered in class and utilize the material posted in google classroom.
Students should be checking google classroom daily for copies of class documents, instructional slides (problems from the textbook), important dates (for assessments, due dates for assignments, etc.) and additional OPTIONAL resources such as powerpoints, videos, etc. that can provide review and additional support with the concepts covered in class. Optional additional practice opportunities (in addition to the required homework) for standards being covered are also posted throughout the week. Students should also be checking their school email through Classlink and their grades in infinite campus several times a week.
Parents (and students) are encouraged to check the 7th Grade Summative Assessment Google calendar often in order to monitor when content summative assessments are scheduled. The link is provided under the tab in the left column of this page.
The best way to reach me is by email at [email protected]. I check email multiple times a day between 7AM-3PM and will respond within 24 hours on a regular school day. Communication with parents is done via email (with email address on file in infinite campus) or a phone call when direct contact is needed. My schedule is available by clicking on the Schedule link in the left column. Infinite campus will be updated within 5 days of due dates for graded assignments.
*REASSESSMENT POLICY: FOR SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS ONLY
Students who score below a 90 on the original summative assessment may request a Request to Reassess form from the teacher in class on the day summative assessments are returned to students (or over the next few days prior to the deadline). Deadlines to complete each part of the learning contract process will be written on the copy available in class. Deadlines are also written on the board and posted in google classroom. Extensions past the posted deadline will not be given unless the student has been absent within the 5 day window for the learning contract process.
1) Students will have to complete corrections on a separate sheet of paper for every problem missed. They must show their work to prove how to get the correct answer/explain why there original answer is incorrect.
2) Students will then meet with the teacher to review and receive reteaching where needed. Students will not be granted the opportunity to reassess if they do not meet ALL requirements on the Request to Reassess form by the deadline given.
3) Once approved to reassess, students may come at 7AM on Tuesdays or Thursdays to reassess. Students needing to stay after school to reassess MUST have prior approval from the teacher and a ride arranged to be picked up no later than 3PM.
