Welcome to Riverside Middle School Cheer, Home of the Eagles!

The 2025-2026 tryouts will be held in the RMS GYM on April 21st-24th 2025

6th and 7th grade tryout clinics and formal tryout will be held Monday - Thursday from  2:45- 4:00
5th grade tryout clinics and formal tryout will be held Monday -Thursday from  4:00-5:00

The 6th & 7th grade formal tryout will begin at 3:00 on Thursday, April 24th; the 5th grade formal tryout will begin at 4:00 on Thursday, April 24th

**Please have rides at RMS promptly at each ending time; tryouts are CLOSED to spectators. Pick-up will be in the FRONT of RMS.

During tryout clinics (Monday - Wednesday) candidates will learn two cheers and a dance that the candidate will perform for the formal tryout on Thursday.  Candidates will also demonstrate a toe-touch and a jump of choice.  On Tuesday, we will be judging TUMBLING.  Candidates will be judged on these categories at TRYOUTS : Jumps - toe touch, choice and double jump; Cheer Technique/Arm Motions; Dance/Showmanship/Musicality; Voice Projection/Spirit/Enthusiasm with additional points being awarded for tumbling skills (minimum back handspring preferred) and overall clinic sportsmanship. *Please note: existing RMS candidates teacher reference sheets can affect candidate scores.

 

If you are interested in trying out for our 2025-2026 team, please complete the following steps:

1. Candidates: Please fill out the CHEER CANDIDATE GOOGLE FORM (linked on this page) in its entirety by April 14th.

2.  Parents: Please DOWNLOAD/PRINT and read THOROUGHLY the TRYOUT/GENERAL INFORMATION sheet linked on this page.

3.  Parents: You must complete all of the ATHLETIC FORMS on the RMS Website and turn them into the office at RMS by 
April 15th.  *These forms are also linked on this page.
Completed forms from RMS Athletics website include :
• Physical Form (*physicals must be renewed every 365 days)
• Sudden Cardiac Awareness Form
• GHSA Concussion Awareness Form
• Student Insurance Form with copy of Insurance Card.
 
4. Candidates: All current RMS students must have teacher referrals from all four contents (ELA, math, science and social studies).  Teacher referral sheets can be picked up outside of Coach Flanders' room (room 109) or printed from the RMS CHEER WEBSITE. Candidates should deliver the forms to each of their content teachers. The teachers will then fill them out and return to the coaches.  CANDIDATES WILL NOT COLLECT THE FORMS FROM THEIR TEACHERS.
 
5. Athletes who make the team will need to attend the MANDATORY choreography week, May 5th-9th (and potentially the week after) after school and will be responsible for mandatory uniform/etc fees (time/location tbd).
