Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!
Who I Am:
While this is only my fifth year at Riverside Middle, this is my 21st year of teaching. I attended Georgia Southern University where I earned my B.S.Ed., M.Ed., Ed.S. and Ed.D degrees. My doctoral dissertation focused on difference, disability, and accepting others. My current research interests include empowering students with disabilities as well as combating their marginalization across all environments. I love working with my students with disabilities and their families!
23-24 Parent Information:
I encourage parents, guardians, and caretakers to reach out as effective communication builds a fundamental sense of teamwork that is essential for student success. Please don't hesitate to email, call, or set up a meeting. I try to respond to emails throughout the school day as much as possible, but at the latest, I respond within 24 hours. You are welcome to call the school and leave a message, but the best way to reach me is via email. I send a weekly newsletter each Friday that contains important dates, school information, and classroom updates.
Classlink:
All students have an individual username and password to Classlink, which houses all of our digital learning programs. Once they log in to Classlink, they do not have to log in to each program. Digital Learning and Technology:
Our digital learning platform for 23-24 is Google Classroom. Our classroom code is (to be added). Students will need their individual log in information that they use in the classroom to access Google Classroom. Click here for a brief video tutorial for parents and students on the use of this technology. If you do not know your child's username and password, please feel free to contact me. I'll get it to you as soon as possible. We will continue to access general curriculum and academic instruction through Unique Learning Solutions which can be accessed at www.n2y.com. Through Google Classroom, Unique Learning Solutions, and students' individual learning plans, we bridge together academic access, skills for independent living, and the advantages of digital instruction. All instruction in my class is individualized with exposure to general education state content standards to the greatest extent possible.
